Job Summary:
The Operation Manager is responsible for the overall operation and management of the company's data center. This includes planning, designing, and implementing new data center projects; managing the day-to-day operations of the data center; and ensuring the security and availability of the data center. The Data Center Manager must be a highly skilled and experienced IT professional with a strong understanding of data center architecture:
Core Responsibilities:
Responsible for Day-to-day operations, new data center build outs, expanding existing data centers and new deployments that includes Compute, Storage, Networking, and other Infrastructure components.
To take overall responsibility for the security of Data Centre operations and ensure that appropriate controls are implemented
Writing policies, process, and procedures for all aspects of data center operations
Assist in developing Disaster Recovery plans, ensuring these are consistent with the Corporate Business Continuity Plan
Lead in the planning, development, and enhancement of the Data Centre provision within overall business planning
Produce business cases for recommended architecture and infrastructure changes, identifying the anticipated business benefits, together with the risks and consequences of failure to support infrastructure performance reporting.
Assist in planning and on-going development of the Data Centre technical architecture and infrastructure, applying Systems Thinking and Lean approaches to drive out further efficiencies and costs
Provide technical management of the Data Centre, ensuring that agreed service levels are met and all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to, whilst seeking means of continual improvement
Ensure that operational procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current.
Maintain the configuration management system, documenting details of all hardware/software items that have been installed, removed, or changed so that configuration management records are fully updated and accurate.
Basic system administration experience (Linux, Windows etc) and working knowledge for various IT systems & technologies
Create data center diagrams including cabinet elevations, data center floor maps, capacity documentation and other essential diagrams
Create data center run books for all data centers
Provide remote hands services for several teams as required including reboots, testing/trouble shooting, making, and installing cables.
Assists on projects for Infrastructure/hardware installation through coordinating facility services, equipment, and cabling in preparation for installations.
Respond to emergency outages in a timely manner for various infrastructure components, applications, and services.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar capacity, out of which at least 3 years in a management position in a medium to large scale IT operation.
BSc in relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Expert in understanding the IT / IS infrastructure, operating systems and service processes used within the organization.
Experienced in Cabling, Electrical, HVAC system, Fire systems, Physical security and safety, etc.
Good experience with service and ticketing workflows is preferred.
Network, Power, and cooling capacity planning experience.
A sloid understands of data cabling and power cabling.
Knowledge for Generator, ATS and DBs handling and managing.
Proficient in handle documentation for all the maintenance plan, service installation, scope, and procedures under industry standard.
Proficient in methods and techniques for risk management, business impact analysis, countermeasures and contingency arrangements relating to the serious disruption of IT services.
Ability to work under pressure.
